AU's Final Spring Gameday!

Here's a group picture of the whole crew...

Last Sunday was the final spring gameday, and the last AU event for all of our seniors.  So we finished in style!  Capture the flag, tennis balls, soccer balls, (shoes?  I don't know about that one Myra..,) and a great relay race to cap the day off.

Then we got in a big group while our athletes described how they completed their goals for the week!  Everyone had cheered on a friend, whether at a sporting event, art show, or play.

Finally, coaches presented all the athletes with portfolios, featuring some great pictures, and every goal of the week sheet that they had filled out.  Some tears were shed, some (healthy) treats were consumed, and we said goodbye to our athletes...

UNTIL THIS SUMMER!  AU will be going full swing, and we have a strong contingent of coaches that will be bouncing basketballs, leading drills, and trying not to get shown up in coach v. athlete games.  More information will be available on practice and gameday times in the upcoming weeks, so please stay posted and spread the word, Athletes United is happening the summer, and it will be awesome.

Lebanon Track and Field

Well... as you can see, the weather was BEAUTIFUL!
Grace leaving the flip-flop median far behind...

Trevor, Keith, and Ian headed over to Lebanon for some track and field practice.  Sprints, unorthodox relay races, and finally, jumping!  Grace, Hannah, and Natalie put on a show for our coaches, and showed that Lebanon is force to be reckoned with.

Hannah showing off the talent that got her selected as
AU's first Athlete of the Week.

Gameday today!  Come hang out, wear warm clothing.

Gameday Tomorrow!

Hellooooooo Athletes, Parents, Coaches, Community Members, Administrators, Mom + Dad, my dog Max, and my cute kitty Snowball:

Gameday is tomorrow! We'll meet at 3pm on the Sunken Garden (the field behind Boss Tennis Center, which is behind Thompson Arena) for some Track & Field action. Athletes, you'd better bring your running shoes and your jumping legs, because things are going to get pretty intense. Hope to see you all there!

Plainfield Practice

Was awesome today! In the words of Coach and Founder Myra Sack, '10:

"Plainfield practice was a huge success today! It was an absolutely perfect afternoon and all seven kids were full of energy and animation. We jumped into a few "get to know you" games. The Plainfield crew didn't like the fact that Myra is a Yankees fan and let her know it, too. (Let's just say cones were thrown and water was spilled.) We then warmed up with a quick game of link tag. Ali and Eric had quite the rivalry going and ended up chasing each other way out of bounds--Eric came out victorious with an exciting last second tag. After a quick breather and water break, we split the group into two teams, the "Peaches" and "Pears," and challenged the young athletes to a few tricky relay races. The races were so close we couldn't even declare a winner so both teams got the gold! Practice ended with some steal the bacon and a huge game of 4 v 4 soccer! We couldn't help ourselves and plus, Johanna said soccer was her favorite sport by far! Practice concluded with a Plainfield cheer and a secret handshake that we can't reveal here.... "

Sounds like a blast! I wish I was there... I want to know about that secret handshake!
